Here we have a self fringing shawl that is fun and easy to knit. The pattern calls for one skein of Primero and one skein of either Duet or Harmony. You knit two strands together and the most interesting pairings are two similar intensity colorways put together. If a variegated yarn is put with a solid complementary color, the solid color will dominate. Two variegated yarns produce the most unusual and interesting results.
This pattern can also be adapted to one strand of yarn, any of the three types (Primero, Duet, or Harmony). Change your needle size to a US #17 or 19 and knit away. The result is very lightweight, airy, and open. An absolute delight to wear. One word of caution, the pattern calls for knitting from one point of the triangle to the other, increasing until you are halfway and then decreasing. You will need to weigh your yarn and start your decrease when ½ of the skein has been used to be sure to have enough to finish the shawl.
When doing the pattern with two strands of yarn, there will be enough yarn left over from the shawl to do a generous scarf as well. Have fun and knit away!
